Snake Oil?

I get a lot of flack for essential oils.

Ok, not a lot. But a fair amount. Resistance when I try to roll a Peppermint and Cilantro blend on my husband's temples when he has a headache, a swat when I spray a friend with a muscle blend when they aren't paying attention (maybe I should change my approach?) and sassy memes from my brother-in-law who would probably rather die than let my "snake oil" save him. I get it. Oils aren't for everyone. I'm not here to save the world with the right amount of Frankincense or convince you that oils will change your life.

But they have changed mine.

It’s natural that someone as obsessed with perfume as I am—I've had an outright fetish since my first drugstore bottle of "If you like Calvin Klein, you'll love ____"—would also obsess over essential oils that smell, for lack of better description, EFFING AMAZING.  doTERRA's Forgive, Console, and Peace blends have been the perfect compliment to my sporadic meditation and tapping sessions, and baths are downright divine with a little Lavender. However, the arc of my oil life has dramatically shifted since first falling for the scents alone. Taking oils internally started with a drop of Frankincense, Lemon, or Lavender in my water. Not for everyone, but I loved it. As my collection grew, I ended up with oils like Marjoram and Oregano, and after discovering they boosted immunity, my hubs and I started taking them as shots mixed with OnGuard and water at the first sign of a cold. And guess what? Neither of us got sick.

All year.

Now, I can't give all the credit to the oils since we use Loomis Enzymes as well, but I'm not going to mess with a good thing. I haven't had to buy cough syrup since early 2018 (if you knew me before that, I was never without a bottle in my purse). It's the first time in five years I haven't been riddled with illness—and I LOVE IT.

So why doTERRA? Why not Young Living, or any old oil on Amazon I could buy for cheaper? That one's easy: quality. I can't speak to other brands that offer therapeutic-grade oils, but I trust doTERRA because they’re all about integrity. If they haven't found a way to make an oil pure enough (CBD for example) they won't sell it. They would rather have a pure product than make a profit off what is popular or in the "now." I trust the oils in and on my body, and I offer them to anyone who will let me get close enough to touch. I'm not an expert on how they're made (yet) and I can't tell you the uses for the hundreds of different oils that exist. But I CAN tell you how they have changed everything from how I clean my toilet—a non-toxic mix of Rosemary and Peppermint oils in rubbing alcohol—to my morning routine—Lemon in hot water, a roller ball that strikes the right mood on my wrist, something uplifting in the diffuser.

Deciding to go "all-in" to advocate for doTERRA took two years of trial, error, fear, and reluctance. Now that I've done it, I'm truly going all in. By the end of the year I hope to be that kitchen witch brewing my own salves and soap on the stove, mixing my own floor and surface cleaners (some of which I already do) and vanquishing all toxic cleaners and personal care products from my home.

It's lofty, but possible. I'll let you know how it goes.
